India Retreat / Arunachala & Ganges
Arunachala is a mountain in the South of India. For ages it has been regarded as a holy place, as an incarnation of Shiva. Sri Ramana Maharshi loved it as his beloved teacher.
From Ramana came the living message of silence and the possibility of direct self-realization. This transmission flows through Poonjaji to Gangaji, Eli Jaxon-Bear, Isaac Shapiro and others of that lineage and, through them, to the West. Still today, the power and sweetness of the Source can be felt clearly in this place where Ramana was sitting, living and teaching.
Padma came into contact with Satsang in 1995, first through Isaac Shapiro and then Poonjaji in
Lucknow, North India. Since 1997, she has translated for Eli and Gangaji. Padma has a masters degree in psychology and works as a Leela Therapist. Leela-Therapy, created by Eli Jaxon-Bear, uses
psychotherapeutic methods in support of and in the context of Self-inquiry and awakening.
Torsten met teachers of Sri Ramana Maharshi’s lineage in the mid-1990s, particularly Poonjaji, Isaac
Shapiro, Gangaji and Eli Jaxon-Bear. In 1998, Gangaji encouraged him to share his experience of freedom with others. Since then, he has been available for Satsang in formal meetings and retreats.
Torsten also has a professional background in the area of psychotherapy and psychiatry.
Padma and Torsten have been in a committed relationship together since 1998, supporting each
other in the deepening realization of freedom. For both, the love for truth has first priority.
During this two-week-stay at Arunachala, there will be possibilities - together or alone - to explore
the mountain, to visit different places where Sri Ramana Maharshi lived and to join various activities at the Ramana-Ashram.
The daily Satsangs with Padma and Torsten will take place on the roof terrace of Sri Nannagaru Ashram, overlooking Arunachala. All participants will be accommodated in this same quiet and
beautifully located building. As required, additional meetings with Padma and/or Torsten can be arranged.
The expected costs will be approximately 1100-1450 Euros, including the roundtrip journey from Germany to Arunachala in India, accommodations, food and Retreat tuition. In exceptional cases of need, there is a possibility to apply for a reduction.
In addition we are going to be offering a week of Retreat at the banks of the holy river Ganga in the North of India.
This can be booked separately or in addition to the visit to Arunachala.
Please ask us for more detailed information by e-mail or follow this link to Torsten’s website with pictures of both places:http://www.satsang-mit-torsten.de/m-04-02-01-08.html
-For 2010 and/or 2011 we are considering offering either the same combination of both retreats again, or maybe going to river Ganga only for two weeks this time, and then the following year to Arunachala only for three weeks. This still depends on how many people are interested in which of these options and timings. So, please let us know as soon as possible, if you have any preferences and if you would like to be informed in time – or check back for updates again within the next few months.

All who have a deep interest in truth are cordially welcome.
We are looking forward to being together in Ramana’s infinite presence..
